ABOUT ME

Jamie Tyus

LMHC

The decision to seek therapy can be intimidating. The reality is that we all encounter struggles as we walk through life. I seek to normalize and destigmatize the concept of mental health. In the same way that we seek help from a physician when a physical problem is out of our control, sometimes we must seek a professional who specializes in healing the mind when our life becomes unmanageable.

I am a graduate of the University of South Florida where I earned a Master's Degree in rehabilitation and mental health counseling. I have 10+ years of experience in the eating disorder and substance abuse field working in all levels of care and positions. I am a trained Psychodramatist and an active member of IAEDP. I am also actively involved in the Alliance for Eating Disorder Awareness. I have had the opportunity to work alongside those navigating codependency, eating disorders, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, dual diagnosis, and LGBT issues among others.I believe in a therapeutic alliance and in approaching mental health as part of total mind, body and spiritual wellness. There is no one size fits all therapy here, each session is tailored to meet you where you're at and to help you reach your goals at that moment.

MY APPROACH

Mental Health, Mindfulness,  and Self Care

My base is out of Mount Dora, Florida however I offer therapy to all of Florida virtually. My philosophy stems from my own experiences with mental health, complications that arise from loving someone through addiction and a combination of Western practices and Eastern philosophy. I utilize many different modalities tailored to the client in order to provide individualized care. I specialize in codependency, eating disorders, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, dual diagnosis, LGBT issues, the pursuit of overall mental health, mindfulness and self-care.

I’m passionate about recovery and care deeply about my clients and the relationships we build along the way. People have said I’m a free spirit, maybe a little bit hippie, but most definitely an adventure. I am here to create a unique and engaging experience for every session.
